AGL buys Transfield wind farm projects

19 06 2009

AGL WindAGL Energy Ltd has bought two wind farm developments from Transfield Services Ltd for $9 million.

Sydney-based AGL acquired the rights to install up to 62 turbines at Barn Hill, north of Adelaide in South Australia, and 20 turbines at Crows Nest, near Toowoomba in southern Queensland.

The Crows Nest acquisition will allow an expansion of AGL’s existing assets in that region, boosting capacity to approximately 200 megawatts.

‘The wind farm developments we have acquired from Transfield Services will deliver further diversity across our renewable energy portfolio,’ AGL managing director Michael Fraser said.

Transfield said the deal included an exclusive right to negotiate potential construction management opportunities at the Barn Hill site.

Cash from the transaction will be available following finalisation in July, Transfield said.
